Suvi Nurmi (FI): Girls’ Town

How would Kuopio change if its bylaws were re-written by a group of young women? A Girls’ Town consists of girls-only workshops which will seek to do just that – using the Public Order Act as its source material the group’s amendments and revisions will hang publically on the walls of the Market Square car park from Thursday on. Nurmi’s invitation is to anarchically rethink the protocols of public life. The workshops will be held at Tyttöjen Talo and participants can arrive any time between 4 pm and 7 pm. No advance registration is required. The workshops are held in Finnish.

Nurmi presents a second text workshop, The Wish Deposit, on Saturday in the lobby of the Säästöpankki bank. Here previous bank brochures, from across the decades, will be re-worked into eloquent reflections of participants’ dreams and expectations. All ages are welcome, participants can arrive between 11am and 3pm. The participants can arrive any time between 11 am and 3 pm. No advance registration is required. The workshop is held in Finnish.
