Rosie Dennis (AU): Downtown: Kuopio

Australian artist Rosie Dennis returns to ANTI to spend two weeks walking and talking with people in Kuopio’s public spaces, engaging in spontaneous conversation with strangers about what they love and don’t love about their city. Using these conversations as material, she will write and perform Downtown: Kuopio.

Each evening of the festival, Rosie will present a short performance lecture that represents her day spent in the city. The performance lecture changes daily as material accumulates and builds towards the final performance shown on Sunday. Drop in on Rosie’s daily reports during the festival and return on Sunday to witness the final episode of Downtown: Kuopio.

“Downtown is a whimsical, even sentimental, work-in-progress from an artist who surprises us nowadays with subtleties and metaphysical turns but still fixes us as one with a searching eye and vocal rhythms that, although now comforting, still incline to the pulse of poetry…”RealTime 96
