Residence artist: deufert&plischke (DE)
ANTI Festival has started a new two-year artist residence project (2021-2022). The pilot project examines the function and potential of an international residence in the times of global pandemic.
While the entire cultural sector has been hit hard financially and emotionally during the past years, it has forced many internationally working artists to re-shape their entire practice. Through the residency, ANTI wants to process the impacts of the pandemic from both the artistic and structural perspectives and focus on the future and the rebuilding of the sector.
Our residence artist is the German deufert&plischke (Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke). The duo adheresto the radical notion that choreography can build society, not merely illustrate it. Thus, collaboration and participation are central themes in deufert&plischke’s methodology, process and performance: in their multi-faceted work, be it a choreographic concert, lecture, or exhibition, theatre takes place only insofar as it can be knit together by artists and spectators. The duo has been working across Germany and worldwide in Tel Aviv, NYC, LA, Brussels, Reykjavik, and Singapore, among others. In 2020 they premiered a new social performance project ”A Worn World” in Kuopio at ANTI Festival 2020.
Come and meet deufert&plischke’s Thomas Plischke on Tuesday 14th Sep at 12.00 in Kantti! Also, he will participate in the discussion event inspired by the Shortlist LIVE! Publication on Thursday 16th Sep at 18.00 in Finnkino Scala. See the details of the both events on the
