Hai Art, Antye Greie-Ripatti (DE/FI), Juan Duarte Regino (MX) & Eerika Jalasaho (FI): Sound Map Kuopio

Tuesday 25.9. – Sunday 30.9.
Mobile application & ANTI pop-up play space, Hallikatu Street 14

Tuesday 25.9. 16.00 – 18.00
Meet with the Artist Eerika Jalasaho (FI)!

A new field-recording sound app for smart devices for the city Kuopio will be launched at this year’s ANTI Festival. Sound Map Kuopio captures sounds of Kuopio in an imaginative, participatory way and ask questions such as which sound do you connect with the city of Kuopio? Which sound belongs to Kuopio, whether you love it or not?

The app is developed by the Hailuoto based arts organisation Hai Art in collaboration with multimedia artist Eerika Jalasaho, code and media artist Juan Duarte Regino and sound curator Antye Greie-Ripatti. Jalasaho collected the sounds in Kuopio, visiting local youth and children’s institutions such as Tyttöjen talo (The Girl’s House), Klubitalo, Latari Youth Centre, Multicultural Centre Kompassi and a group of adopted kids. Sounds collected in the Future DiverCities Lab in Kuopio in 2016 were also implemented.

On Tuesday 25th at 16.00 – 18.00, in ANTI pop-up play space, artist Eerika Jalasaho will share the process of collecting the sounds in Kuopio. Welcome to hear more about this sound sculpture and take part in a collective listening session!
