Pia Lindy (FI): Joku kohta tanssii
Joku Kohta Tanssii is an artistic concept and a series of the artist’s questions with which to explore being in society and living by the means of art and dance. The preferred points of view are corporality and experientialism. Movements/gestures and clothes have a lot in common. They can circulate from a maker/user to another and we can consider ourselves their owners. Gestures, movements, clothes and other external signs are part of the performance of everyday life and of the interaction in relation to each other and ourselves.
The work consists of solo performance, discussions and compilations of videos (by Sini Haapalinna) that have been edited from movement interviews that have taken place in Kuopio and elsewhere. Lindy will also be present in Kontti in order to talk about the movement interviews and to discuss with people. A solo performance concludes the day. The intense, improvisation-based solo performances are connected in different ways with the contemplation of being in the world and in society. In current works shouting is a part of dancing. The sound carries or pierces the levels of ideological and dancing reflection and it unfurls both personal roles of the artist as well as humane societal questions.
Dancer Pia Lindy has lived and worked in Joensuu since 1999. She has produced various solo pieces and projects, worked in cooperation with artists of different fields as well as been a member of several commitees organising festivals and events. She has also written dance-related articles and taught at several art schools. Lindy and Haapalinna have worked together extensively and, in 2002, they created the concept 3rd Side Specific with which they build -in collaboration with artists from various fields- improvisational performances, events and workshops based on pluralism and contemplation about dance, society and the environment.
