A Piece of Space is an expanded assembly that transforms the Culture Workshop Konepaja into a temporary collective home: a public space that becomes a bedroom, a living room, a meeting point, a space where to cohabit and share responsibilities.
What happens if a public assembly lasts five days? If it stretched long enough to enter the routines of everyday life and embraced those daily moments that often allow more intimate and meaningful conversations?
A Piece of Space is a series of expanded assemblies exploring collective living and political imagination in public spaces. It is a collective performance that holds time and space to build relationships, discuss the meaning and use of public space, imagine the futures of Konepaja, dissent, and care for one another. It forms a temporary Konepaja community where experimenting with living together is already a form of resistance and political imagination. Read more about Culture Workshop Konepaja.
The assembly is open and welcomes everyone interested in becoming part of the temporary Konepaja community, and in helping to build a joyful space based on hospitality, generosity, trust, and listening. You can participate in the assembly for a few hours, return later, stay longer and overnight.
The assembly agenda is co-created by the Konepaja community and implemented collectively throughout the assembly days. It is an invitation to bring what you hope to find there and stay long enough to help transform it together.
A Piece of Space is a co-production with Periferico Festival in Modena (Italy) where it will host a 96-hour assembly in Campo Cesana.
