ANTI Festival 2022 was a success!
ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival ended yesterday in Kuopio. The festival was held between 13th to 18th September 2022.
The festival’s program once again reached a large audience for site-specific art. The events reached more than 25 000 viewers in Kuopio, when on-going programme in public spaces is included in. The participants of the performances, workshops and other events were counted approx. 12 000 at the venues and public spaces. All ANTI Festival events that required seat reservations were fully booked, and there were many people in the waitlists.
Participants and visitors travelled to Kuopio from different cities in Finland and international contemporary art professionals also found their way to the ANTI Festival and Kuopio. In particular, the events that included audience participation gathered a lot of visitors this year. Plant Based Stories, a work in which the artists collected plant stories from the participants, and the campervan Oh Europa by Action Hero, in which the artists recorded love songs, attracted many people to give their own contribution to these still-forming works of art. Located in the city center, on Tulliportinkatu, A Worn World atelier invited people to explore their own relationship to clothing through crafts and somatic exercises.
On Saturday night, the ANTI Prize Party at VR-Konepaja gathered nearly 500 people during the evening to celebrate to the rhythms of the Suistamon Sähkö band and dance the night away to DJ Land Rover Lesbian’s record selections.
