Hum by Maija Hirvanen and working group awakens questions and experiences on being a human in this particular time, and simultaneously in the scale of deep time.

Hum: humus, human, humming

Maija Hirvanen’s and the working group’s Hum creates a relation to the earth and to the soil through a choreographic performance. The performance awakens questions and experiences on being a human in this particular time, and simultaneously in the scale of deep time.

The two parts of Hum are artistically independent – one can experience them both or just the other. The other part takes place in a small city woods where old spruces, mossy structures of a waste land, Kuopio citys’ water facility and the Kallavesi lake meet the dog walkers, joggers and the viewer-participants of Hum. The other part is a performative dance class, experienced by dancing together in relation to the day’s weather, the land under the floor and the other participants.

The event is organized in the framework of the Future DiverCities 2 project, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
