ANTI Festival remains to be an Apartheid Free Zone. We are committed to the boycotts of the international BDS movement and support the Palestinian struggle for human rights, equality and freedom. We gather to express our solidarity and allyship particularly in the Evening for Palestine.
The evening features the short film Their Eyes Will Sear Holes In The Night Sky by Bianca Hisse and Laura Cemin, created in collaboration with Al Huriya Dabke, a Palestinian dance group based in Helsinki. The film follows the group’s practice, bringing together Palestinians and Finnish participants who learn and carry forward the tradition of Dabke.
In addition, the Watan Friendship Association organises a Tatreez workshop as part of the event. You’ll have the chance to learn about and try your hand at Palestinian Tatreez, a traditional cross-stitch craft. For centuries, Tatreez has been an important part of Palestinian culture, resistance, and storytelling.
Also on display will be artworks by children from the Jenin refugee camp, in collaboration with the Jenin Creative Cultural Center, as well as Crafts4Gaza handicrafts and products, with all proceeds going directly to aid in Gaza.
