UK based artist Harold Offeh will work with residents of Kuopio to create a new live performance work called Body, Landscape, Memory.

The work explores residents’ relationship to the local landscape of Kuopio and uses performance, movement and storytelling to address experiences of belonging. A diverse group of participants is invited to share their experiences and draw on cultural and historical references as well as the group’s own personal memories. Audiences will be invited to journey through the landscapes and encounter and interact with performers. Through the experiences of bodies in landscape, Offeh is interested in how our understanding of belonging is shaped by our proximity to sites and locations.

Join the Project

Offeh is looking for up to 5 people based in Kuopio to contribute to the live performance. Participants can either be lifelong residents or recent BIPOC migrants to the city. Offeh is looking for a diverse group of people with a mix of people encouraged to apply.

Participants will be invited to share their experiences and together they will draw on cultural and historical references as well as their own personal memories. No previous performance experience is necessary.

If you want to join the project or need more information, please contact Communications Coordinator Katja Papinniemi: katja@antifestival.com.

Harold Offeh is nominated for the 2025 ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art. The Prize is funded by the Saastamoinen Foundation (2025–2029). From now on the Prize will be awarded once every two years.

The performance is part of Kuopio250 anniversary year programme and it has received production support of the anniversary year.
