In the ANTI Festival edition of Brownton Abbey, the performing collective includes artists:
Laud Brownton (Tarik Elmoutawakil)
TARIK ELMOUTAWAKIL IS AN ARTIST, PROGRAMMER AND CREATIVE PRODUCER AS WELL AS FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AT MARLBOROUGH PRODUCTIONS IN BRIGHTON, THE UK’S TRAILBLAZING PERFORMING ARTS ORGANISATION DEDICATED TO INTERSECTIONAL QUEER ARTS.
Tarik founded and leads on Radical Rhizomes, a creative social hangout space for QTIPOC in Brighton. He was the catalyst for the formation of Brownton Abbey, and continues to be the driving force that brings the out of this world party together.
Tarik is plugged into a network of disabled QTIPOC artivists across the globe, contributing to an ongoing movement to reshape access and leadership. A spirited public speaker and facilitator, he uses his joyous brand of activism wherever he can to transform the perception and treatment of marginalised QTIPOC. His activism is accessible, extending into his work with children and young people and communities, Tarik facilitates workshops, holding space for open hearted conversations and inquiries.
Ebony Rose Dark
EBONY ROSE DARK IS YOUR ALL SINGING/ALL DANCING, LIP SYNCING, STORY TELLING, MIMING V.I.P/VISUALLY IMPAIRED CABARET/PERFORMANCE ARTIST.
A feisty Birmingham Lass who loves a party, with big red lips and snaking hips, she’s a diva and a half but with a heart of gold. Ebony Rose Dark is known for her performances at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s Bar Wotever which is where she first started back in 2012 and has become one of Bar Wotever’s longest artists in residence. Ebony Rose Dark has performed nationally and internationally. Ebony Rose Dark continues to perform across London and Brighton exploring topics around Disability awareness, racism and relationships within the LGBTQ+ community.
