Marisa Carnesky (UK): The girl from nowhere
The solo piece investigates the otherness of being a woman, the displacement, sexual and ethnic identity as well as memories. As background material Carnesky has used the experiences, past and present, of eastern European immigrant and refugee women. The piece is constructed of six short episodes in which text, choreography, visual spectacle, illusions created with mirrors, experimental sound and documentary-like images get mixes.
In addition to live art artist Marisa Carnesky, the team consists of producer Jeremy Goldstein, director Mark Whitelaw, illusionist Paul Kieve and lighting designer Rose Parnis. The performance is a part of the project Carneskys Ghost Train, which will come to life in 2003 and in which six women each with an immigrant or refugee background will perform.
