The city paper Viikkosavo was founded in 1972 as a successor of the famous newspaper Savo. The image of the paper is joyful, colourful and very active and it tells the most important news and reveals the best gossip of Kuopio.

Vasikkasaari Island in front of the Passenger harbour
Vasikkasaari Island is a tiny, unmanned island in front of the Kuopio passenger harbour, the history of which dates back to the mid 1900’s. The windmill, which tells about the history of Kuopio, was brought on the island in the 1980’s.
